River’s Edge retirement community is home to nearly 100 seniors who enjoy an elegant living environment along with a wealth of services and amenities. Seniors may choose between a studio, a one or a two bedroom apartment that are ready to be individualized with personal furnishings and belongings.
Apartments
Each apartment is cable-ready, has a full kitchen, individually controlled heating/air conditioning, and a patio or balcony. Because the apartments are available on month to month rental basis residents do not have to worry about depleting their savings for an expensive buy-in fee or commit to a lengthy lease period.
River’s Edge has many special features not found in most private homes. These features include: wide, well-lit hallways with handrails, grab bars in the restrooms, a 24 hour, staff-monitored emergency call system in each apartment, and the option of a wearable signaling pendant. These and many other features help give residents and their families added peace of mind.
Complimentary laundry facilities are located on each floor. Personal laundry and linen services are available.
 Daily Life
A beautifully decorated lobby features a Baby Grand piano, comfortable seating to entertain friends and family, and an elegant fireplace with mantle. There are two card and game rooms where residents can easily join in anongoing hand of Bridge, Pinochle or Canasta. Complimentary coffee and tea are available throughout the day in the large card room. The TV room is equipped with a large, flat screen monitor, a Wii gaming console where residents may perfect their backhand at Wii Tennis or improve their handicap at Wii Golf. Dakim Brain Fitness Training is also available in the TV room to help improve memory and prevent cognitive decline.
A well-stocked library and regular visits from the City Library Bookmobile provide another option to those looking to increase their knowledge or are looking for a more relaxing form of entertainment. A print enlarger is available allowing those with low-vision to easily read their newspaper, love letters or a favorite novel. An onsite computer center with five computers provides free email accounts to residents as well as free computer or internet classes. Each computer is internet accessible.
Residents can lead fulfilled, enriched lives without having to worry about mundane chores: there is no more yard work, maintenance, housekeeping or meal preparation. Time can be spent by making new friends, learning new hobbies and enjoying favorite pastimes.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, take a stroll through the beautifully landscaped, park-like grounds. On the way you will find a private man-made lake complete with a fountain, breath-taking gardens, a picnic area with barbecue pits to entertain family and friends, and a croquet field as well as a putting green.
Mealtime is a treat! The elegant dining room, as well as the dining patio, overlooks the lake. Restaurant-style menus and service ensure a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of delicious dishes. The menus feature heart healthy choices and are reviewed by a registered dietician. All of the meals are prepared with the freshest ingredients by trained and talented chefs who rival those found in four-star hotels.
A lovely private dining room is available for birthday, anniversary and other celebrations with family and friends. Reservations of the private room can include catering services from the exceptional food services staff.
A fully equipped gym and weight room, along with health promotion lectures and exercise classes allow residents to take an active role in maximizing their own health and well-being. Residents can also schedule onsite massages and podiatry care.
